I grew up in the smallest rural city in Puerto Rico surrounded by mountains, exploring cold streams, raising chickens and cows, and growing fruit trees. Been immersed in nature sparked my interest in science. Throughout my academic and professional life I've used my scientific training and cultural background to effectively communicate science by making it accessible, equitable, fun, and inclusive. My goal is to inspire youth from underrepresented groups to become scientists and break existing barriers. I will do so by expanding STEM education, outreach & policy, and by advocating for more diverse and inclusive STEM fields.
